Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service Public Consultation Launch – On-Call Improvement
Published: 19 December 2025
Dear Partners
I am writing to inform you that Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service has now launched its public consultation on the On-Call Improvement Programme.
Many of you will already be aware of the work taking place; this email provides the official information and resources to help you and your communities take part. The consultation seeks views on proposed changes to improve reliability and resilience, as well as a broader question about giving Chief Fire Officers greater operational independence as part of a national discussion on modernising the fire and rescue sector.
The consultation documents, evidence pack and online survey are available at:
Bucksfire.gov.uk/oncall-consultation
To support your local engagement, we have also produced a digital toolkit containing:
· Social media graphics and suggested text
· QR codes and approved hashtags
· Printable posters and leaflets
· A short video introduction from the Chief Fire Officer and Assistant Chief Fire Officer
You can access the toolkit here:
BFRS OIP Digital Tool Kit
A full briefing note summarising the proposals, what is not changing, the rationale for the programme, details of the consultation questions, including operational independence, and information on events and printed materials is attached to this email for your use.
Please feel free to share this information within your council or organisation, and with local community groups or residents who may wish to contribute.
If you require printed materials or tailored information for your area, please contact: OIP@bucksfire.gov.uk
Thank you for your support in helping local communities engage with this important consultation.
Kind regards,
Louise Harrison
Chief Fire Officer
